MIZUTech is a powerful solution that treats biogenic waste effectively through Hydrothermal Carbonization (HTC). The ingenuity of this system allows a multitude of feedstock, including wet biomass to be treated without having the need to undergo predrying. Our Technology

System Description

MIZUTech advances the use of hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) technology in treating biogenic materials. We developed this system to cleverly imitate Earth’s natural process in which coalification occurs. We do so by subjecting biomass to relatively high temperatures and pressures which initiate different reaction pathways corresponding to the biological structures of the biomass. The resulting product from this reaction is a coal-like product and an aqueous solvent solution. These products will be then subjected to subsequent processes to form a multitude of value-added products such as bio-coal, phosphorus, activated carbon and biocrude. The benefits of using MIZUTech is clear and evident.The flexibility of this technology allows for wet biomass to be treated and converted into fuel or high value products without the need for the energy intensive pre-drying process.

This compact system occupies 79.75% lesser space than an anaerobic digester for an equivalent treatment capacity.The quick throughput of this process also results in 99% reduction in retention time. In terms of efficiency, MIZUTech is able to adsorb 95% of heavy metal, recover 95-100% of Phosphorus and remove 90% of
moisture from the sludge while producing hydrochar with a HHV of up to 25.6MJ/kg.
